Neodvážim sa riadky o fenoméne menom John Surman začať diskografiou pretože by nedošlo na to čo chcem o ňom napísať. Je to nenápadná star so širokým záberom a fantasticky obsiahlym dielom. Poznám ho ako autora a interpreta jazzu už veľmi dlho. Ako spracovateľa klasiky približne od roku 2009 keď s uskupením Dowland Project vystúpil v Bratislave. Jeho fantastická a pritom ukľudňujúca hra na nervy drásajúce saxofóny je neuveriteľne upokojujúca. Saxofón v jeho podaní naozaj nie je nástroj rock n’ rollu ani symbolom bebopu ako u Charlie Parkera alebo Johna Coltraina. Vrelo odporúčam jazzové aj klasické kúsky tohto majstra.
